Why we’re seeing more dried fruit exporters switch to our IR heaters
If you’re exporting dried fruit, you know the drill. The moisture and residue standards are brutal. One bad batch and you fail an audit. The problem is that most people rely on old-school convection ovens. They heat the air, and the air heats the fruit. It’s slow. Worse, it often causes “case hardening”—where the outside of the fruit turns into a hard shell while the inside stays damp. Not a great look for a premium product. We took a different approach. Our shortwave infrared (IR) lamps don’t bother with the air. They hit the fruit directly. Getting deep into the fruit Here’s the thing: not all heat is the same. We use high-intensity shortwave radiation because it actually penetrates the fruit tissue. It pushes the moisture from the center to the surface much faster than a standard heater ever could. We also packed a lot of power into these tubes. Since the wattage density is so high, the equipment doesn’t need to be huge. You can either crank up the speed of your conveyor belt or just shorten the tunnel. Either way, you’re moving more product in less time. Built for the real world We use high-purity quartz glass. Why? Because the last thing you want is contamination in a food line. And we know every plant is different. Whether you’re running 220V or 380V, our lamps are designed as drop-in replacements. They fit standard mounts, so you aren’t rebuilding your whole line just to upgrade the heat. We also centered the filaments perfectly. It sounds like a small detail, but it stops the quartz from cracking when the temperature jumps. A few things to keep in mind Now, these aren’t “plug and play” magic wands. They put out a massive amount of energy, and if you aren’t careful, your conveyor frames will take a beating. You’ll need proper heat shielding to keep your gear from warping. I always recommend pairing these with PID controllers and thermocouples. Without them, you’re risking scorched fruit. Plus, you can’t just blast them at 100% and walk away. If you don’t have a good airflow system to whisk away the steam, you’ll create a humid little cloud around your product. That just slows everything back down. Get the ventilation right, and these things are a dream.
