Most people think of infrared lamps as just a way to stop the shivers when you step out of the shower. But we built these to do a lot more than just keep you warm. The real secret is how they handle the moisture in your room.
Why this is different from a regular heater
Here’s the thing: standard heaters try to warm up the air. But air is pretty bad at holding and moving heat. Our lamps work differently. They send out short-wave radiation that goes straight into the wet stuff—your tiles, the grout, and that shower curtain that never seems to dry. It basically shakes up the water molecules on those surfaces, making the water evaporate way faster. When you put these in your ceiling, they hit those “cold spots” where steam usually clings. By keeping the walls warm, the water can’t pool up. And if there’s no standing water, mold doesn’t have a place to grow. It’s a much cleaner way to run a bathroom.
The practical side of things
We use quartz envelopes to make sure the heat stays consistent. You get an immediate blast of warmth the second you flip the switch. It beats waiting an hour for a towel rail to finally feel lukewarm. But, a quick heads-up on where you put them. The heat is intense. If you mount the lamp too close to plastic vents or certain ceiling materials, you might warp them or see some discoloration. Give it at least 200mm of breathing room from any sensitive trim. Just a bit of space goes a long way.
Keeping things fresh
Using this kind of heat is just faster than relying on a fan alone. It dries the “skin” of the room. That means you get rid of that heavy, damp smell that tends to linger in bathrooms with bad airflow. Now, don’t throw away your exhaust fan. You still need that to push the actual steam out of the house. Think of it as a team effort: the infrared lamp flash-dries the surfaces, and the fan clears out the vapor. Together, they keep everything crisp and dry.
