
Speeding Up Your Line with Shortwave Infrared
Ever feel like your food service line is just… stuck? Usually, it comes down to the oven. You’re waiting on it to heat up or recover its temperature, and while you wait, everything else grinds to a halt. For those of you running rotary ovens, we’ve got a fix. We use shortwave infrared (SWIR) lamps that you can just drop right in. They cut the time it takes for your food to hit that target core temperature, which means you stop waiting and start moving. Why it actually works Most ovens just warm up the air and hope for the best. These IR tubes are different. They send radiation straight into the food. We build these with high wattage density so they react almost instantly. When your rotary oven cycles, you need heat now. No lag. No waiting for the air to get hot. It just happens. That lets you tighten up your production rhythm and push way more units through the door every hour. The nitty-gritty We use high-purity quartz glass because these things go through a lot of thermal shock when they switch on and off. And don’t worry about a massive teardown of your equipment. Most of our replacements use standard R7s or SK15 connectors. You can usually wire them up without having to mess around with the oven chassis. Whether you’re on 230V or 400V, we tweak the filament and winding to make sure you get the exact wattage you need for your specific setup. A couple of things to watch out for Now, these lamps pack a punch, but they aren’t “set it and forget it.” Positioning is everything. If the lamp is too close, you’ll char the outside before the middle is even warm. You’ll need to spend a little time calibrating the distance between the tube and the rack to get that perfect balance of speed and quality. Also, just a heads-up: these high-wattage tubes pull a lot of current. Before you flip the switch, double-check that your wiring and contactors can handle the load. You don’t want to deal with a burnout halfway through a rush.
