But it’s not magic. It all comes down to the heat density and the wavelength of the lamps you put in. The nitty-gritty on power These machines use short-wave infrared to get heat into those PET preforms fast. When we’re picking out replacements, we’re looking at the balance between voltage and wattage. Here’s the thing: a higher wattage lamp pumps out more heat. That means the preform spends less time in the oven, your cycle times drop, and your output goes up. But there’s a catch. If you push more wattage through the same space, your cooling fans have to work harder. If your fans are clogged with dust or just can’t keep up, you’ll start seeing “hot spots” on your preforms. Not a good look. Built to take the heat We use high-purity quartz glass because, frankly, anything else would just melt or burn out during the halogen cycle. We also stick with heavy-duty R7s connectors. Why? Because you don’t want your sockets melting while you’re trying to hit a production deadline. Plus, the quartz has a special coating that bounces the heat back toward the preform. It keeps the heat where it belongs instead of wasting it on the oven walls.
